Gourmet this and gourmet that

Gourmet this and gourmet that

Yeah! Burger (veggie burger w/hand-cut sweet potato fries)

Recession? What recession? People are jumping on the gourmet bandwagon and it’s hard not to take notice. New restaurants popping up across the nation that are reinventing fun food. Naturally we had to see what all the excitement was about so we hit Yeah! Burger just this past weekend. The fact that I don’t eat red meat didn’t even matter. Many of these new restaurants are progressive and considerate enough to offer chicken, turkey or veggie options. Not only that, but Yeah! Burger offers gluten free selections as well. Okay, but before I tell you that this was one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had and this starts to sound like a Yeah! Burger review, there’s other gourmet restaurants worth mentioning. Recently a friend told me about HD1, a gourmet hot dog restaurant with a full menu. From their deviled ham in eggs appetizers to daily specials such as Belgium beer bratwurst with sauerkraut and toast. HD1 has taken the standard hotdog to whole new artistic level. But besides the standard burger and dogs, there’s also gourmet grilled cheese. (oh sweet comfort food, how I do love thee) Who doesn’t love a grilled cheese every now and then? Well at Chedd’s you don’t just get the original grilled sammie that Mom used to make us on those winter afternoons after a full day of sled riding. You have a choice of well crafted grillers like their French Kiss; garlic jack, gorgonzola, onion, sun dried tomato spread with pizza sauce. Or how about the Man from Iowa; farmers cheese, ham, pickle, tomato with mustard on rye. With menus this interesting and inventive, it’s hard to resist partaking in such creative gourmet dining just to see what all the hype is about.
