Before her album officially has come out, Lana Del Rey, whose real name is Elizabeth Grant, made her first live appearance on NBC’s Saturday Night Live and the critics and viewers were not kind to her performance. The 25 year old from Lake Placid, New York has an unique sound that is being compared to a more edgier/gangsta version of Nancy Sinatra. She’s been buzzed about online which caught the attention of Lorne Michael who decided to invite her to perform. Unfortunately for Del Rey, her live performance skills are lacking. She looked awkward and uncomfortable on stage. Although her voice is haunting she seemed nervous and out of sync with her performance.
Apparently celebs also caught the performance and had a few “not-so-nice” things to Tweet about the chanteuse….
Juliette Lewis: “Wow watching this ‘singer’ on SNL is like watching a 12 yearold [sic] in their bedroom when theyre pretending to sing and perform #signofourtimes.”
Perez Hilton: “Just watched SNL. Not only was @LanaDelRey vocally WAY off, but watching her utter lack of stage presence was cringe-worthy.”
Let’s hope that some of her “people” (manager, agent… PARENTS) will get her some help on how performing live.
